Dreamy Orange Smoothie (No Added Sugar)

This tasty smoothie is reminiscent of an Orange Julius, but with lots more nutrients and no added sugar! With fruit for flavor & sweetness, greens for some extra vitamins, chia seeds for healthy fats & fiber, and the milk of your choice to tie it all together, this wholesome orange pineapple smoothie may just become your new favorite treat.

My kids are big smoothie lovers, but not big veggie eaters. 😛 So any time I can, I like to sneak some greens into their smoothie! 😀 All the ingredients in this healthy orange smoothie are things I feel good about putting into my own body or feeding to my kids.

Wholesome ingredients for dreamy orange smoothie, including frozen pineapple, fresh orange, fresh banana, frozen spinach, milk, vanilla extract, and chia seeds

While you don’t need a fancy blender to make this smoothie, I do recommend a high speed one for the creamiest texture. We were able to score an almost new Blendtec off eBay a few years back for a great price, and it’s been amazing! If you’ll be making a lot of smoothies, I highly recommend investing in one.

Dreamy Orange Smoothie with Greens

Ingredients

2 C *milk of choice
1 C frozen greens (spinach or kale are my go-tos!)
1 C frozen pineapple
1 orange or 2 tangerines
1/2 medium banana
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 Tbsp chia seeds (hemp or flax seeds work too)

Directions

  1. Prepare fruit by peeling. If using an orange, cut in half for easier blending.
  2. Add all ingredients to a high speed blender, starting with the milk.
  3. Blend until smooth.

Yields about 4 cups of smoothie, enough for 3 large or 4 small servings.

Notes

*If you’re worried about your calorie intake, you can use almond milk or even water. For a non-dairy option with more protein, I recommend soy milk. And if you want an even dreamier smoothie, try vanilla flavored almond or soy milk (though these usually do have a little added sugar).
